5. To what extent are the unions to blame for Chrysler's and GM's bankruptcies? 

It’s hard not to see big labor’s fingerprints all over the costly mismanagement of the American automakers, though management shares the blame.  Labor’s influence exacerbated the Detroit automakers’ financial difficulties, costing them more than triple the amount it cost their foreign competitors to produce cars and that makes it tough to survive in a global marketplace.
