The 60 Second Update with

Congressman Thaddeus McCotter

1. What are the biggest challenges to liberty that we must confront?

As delineated in the Republican House Policy Committee pamphlet, “We the People: Wide Awake for Our Newest Birth of Freedom,” America’s Greatest Generation overcame four great challenges:

1. The social, economic and political upheavals of industrialization;

2. A world war against evil enemies;

3. The Soviet Union as a strategic threat and rival model of governance; and

4. The moral struggle of the civil rights movement.

Now, our Global Generation must overcome four great challenges:

1. The social, economic and political upheavals of globalization;

2. A world war against evil enemies;

3. Communist China as a strategic threat and rival model of governance; and

4. Moral relativism’s erosion of our self-evident truths.

Despite the parallels, a difference exists: The Greatest Generation faced its challenges consecutively. Our Global Generation faces our challenges simultaneously.

Question 2. What duties do "we the people" have in upholding liberty and freedom?

Question 1 / Question 2 / Question 3 / Question 4 / Question 5

Congressman McCotter, is Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee and is a member of the House Financial Services Committee.
He represents the 11th District of Michigan.
